Jurassic World Rebirth Promises High-Stakes Adventure

Universal Pictures has shared the final trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth in the run-up to its July release. The Jurassic World Rebirth trailer gives fans one last look at the highly anticipated film before it lands in theaters during the Fourth of July weekend. It opens nationwide on July 2, 2025.

The film is directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp. The Jurassic World Rebirth stars Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey. It also stars Rupert Friend as Martin Krebs, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Reuben Delgado, and Luna Blaise, David Iacano, and Audrina Miranda as the Delgado children, all of whom are part of the family on the boat the team arrives on.

As the fourth Jurassic World film and seventh film in the franchise, which started in 1993 with Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park, Rebirth is designed to be a soft reboot of sorts. The film is set to mark the series’ return to the original Jurassic Park research island. Johansson will reprise her role as Zora Bennett from Jurassic World Dominion, and she will lead a team of top agents to the island on a top-secret mission to retrieve genetic material from three of the largest dinosaurs on the planet: one on land, one in the sea, and one in the air. This genetic material is thought to hold the key to a new life-saving drug.

Jurassic World Rebirth Synopsis and Trailer

In the official synopsis, Jurassic World Rebirth takes place five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion. Dinosaurs are becoming less sustainable to the earth’s current ecosystem, and many have been restricted to a series of enclosures in small areas around the equator that replicate their native prehistoric environments. The three largest dinosaurs on land, sea, and air each live on the same tropical biosphere island, and each contains genetic material that has the potential to be used to develop a life-saving drug.

Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Zora Bennett in the film, a veteran covert operations expert who leads a team on a secret mission to the island to extract the genetic material, which has a key code to a life-saving drug. However, they aren’t the only people on the island, and the team accidentally interferes with the vacation of a family of boaters. As a result, the family gets attacked by the aquatic dinosaurs, and the survivors wash up on a seemingly deserted island, where they find an abandoned island outpost of Jurassic Park’s original research center. The trailer suggests there is something far more sinister hiding on the island than dinosaurs.

Jurassic World Rebirth Cast

The Jurassic World Rebirth cast members have several new faces and returning characters. Aside from Johansson and Ali, the cast of the fourth Jurassic World film includes Rupert Friend as Martin Krebs, a pharmaceutical company representative who is visiting the island for the same reason as Bennett’s team, and is not entirely what he seems; Jonathan Bailey as Henry Loomis, a paleontologist, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Reuben Delgado, the leader of a shipwrecked family.

Reuben’s children, played by Luna Blaise, David Iacano, and Audrina Miranda, are also on the island, as is Bechir Sylvain, who is a member of Bennett’s team. Ed Skrein and Philippine Velge also appear in the film, although their roles are not yet known.

Jurassic World Rebirth Trailer

The Jurassic World Rebirth trailer features much of the footage from the first trailer released in February. The latest trailer opens with the famous scream as the camera pans around to a worker in a hazmat suit as he is stalked by a ravenous T-Rex and trapped with no escape. We know it won’t be a quiet summer at the office, so strap in for high-octane action, intense suspense, and teeth-rattling dinosaur attacks.

The trailer also reveals one of the movie’s key set pieces. The attempted robbery of a pterosaur egg, described by one character as a “flying carnivore the size of an F-16,” is an epic dinosaur-versus-human showdown. The raptors are also back in the trailer, and a new species is revealed: a mosasaur, a large aquatic predator. According to one character, the island was intentionally used to house “the worst of the worst.”

Jurassic World: Rebirth Is a Franchise Reset

The Jurassic World Rebirth trailer and synopsis both suggest that while the film is marketed as a reboot, it won’t be a complete reset for the series. The return to the original Jurassic Park research island should be a huge nostalgia play for long-time Jurassic fans. The island itself also means a chance to meet both original and classic dinosaurs and bring in brand new fears with unknown species like the mosasaur.

The reboots of recent franchises have worked to establish fresh teams with varying levels of experience and introduce their missions with morally gray or ambiguous lines, and Jurassic World Rebirth is following that blueprint with the new film’s trailer. Bennett and her team are described as “the best of the best,” and they are an elite team with many of their team members shown with military backgrounds. Bennett herself has experience with dangerous, often unruly dinosaurs and a no-nonsense attitude when it comes to staying alive in extreme situations.

Jurassic World Rebirth looks to be all action. The trailer teases several high-stakes escapes and near misses, and there are at least a few scenes with characters running through tropical rainforest, hiding in sunken shipwrecks, and making their way across crumbling cliff faces. Johansson, in particular, looks to bring a grittier, more tactical edge to the film and the familiar ‘survive the dinosaur attacks’ trope.
